About NC TASH
NC TASH is the advocacy organization in North Carolina that carries the torch of TASH, the leading national advocacy organization for children and adults with severe disabilities. TASH has taken a strong lead in the effort to reform attitudes, supports and conditions for people with disabilities. It has been the leading proponent of inclusive education at all age levels, as well as integrative education, housing, employment and social justice for adults with these disabilities. NC TASH has its roots in the former Community Living Association, which began in 1976 and was in the forefront advocating for high quality community-based services for persons with developmental disabilities of all ages. CLA members chose to become formally affiliated with TASH at its annual convention in 1999.

NC TASH membership includes individuals with disabilities and their families, professionals, university-based staff, representatives of state agencies, and community service organizations. The common thread is an interest in promoting equality, inclusion and social justice, and in strengthening communities for people with developmental disabilities. NC TASH welcomes all North Carolinians to join us in advancing opportunities for people with disabilities.
