Top 5 Reasons to Present at the 2011 TASH Conference

Okay, so this isn’t Family Feud, and we didn’t exactly survey a hundred people to find the top 5 answers – but these are still terrific reasons to present at the TASH Conference. Remember, we’re quickly approaching the May 6 May 31 deadline, so make sure we have your completed proposal! You can view more details here on the TASH Conference webpage, or visit the submission site directly!

Here we go – the Top 5 Reasons to Present at the 2011 TASH Conference …

1. Share Your Work and Experience with the Disability Community

The TASH Conference brings together people from every corner of the disability community, including: self-advocates, parents and siblings, service providers, educators, school administrators, researchers and a number of other advocates and professionals. With so many stakeholders present, it’s the perfect arena to share your work and experience.

2. Network and Find New Partners, Peers and Friends

Over the 35-year history of the TASH Conference, we’ve been witness to countless relationships that have developed between attendees. Friendships have been made, peers met, and bonds formed between colleagues and advocates. Whether between experts and family members, or adult self-advocate and parents of young children, these relationships help make TASH a vibrant community. There are a number of intentional networking opportunities, but many bonds are formed through casual conversation at the conference.

3. Present Alongside Notable Speakers like Kate Gainer, Rob Horner and John O’Brien (2011 keynote speakers!)

The TASH Conference attracts high quality speakers and presenters year-in and year-out. Join some of the leading experts and advocates from across the U.S., and meet the growing field of up-and-comers making their first TASH presentation. Speaking and presenting at the TASH Conference is a unique personal and professional experience that opens doors for other opportunities and events.

4. Support the 35+ Year Tradition of Progressive Views and Systems Change for People with Significant Disabilities

By coming together at TASH’s annual conference, you help support and sustain TASH’s mission for the full inclusion and participation of children and adults with disabilities in every aspect of their community. It is you – individuals with disabilities, parents, siblings, educators, administrators, service providers and others – who drive the path toward positive systems change for people with disabilities and we can’t thank you enough for it!

5. Experience the City of Atlanta

It’s no secret – Atlantans are very proud of their city and what it has to offer. Join us in the city that is the backdrop to the Civil Rights movement, the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, the cultural and culinary hub of the South, and so much more! It’s going to be a great time. We hope to see you there!
