Strategies to Promote the Inclusion of Children with Autism & Developmental Disabilities

Description:
This workshop will provide strategies to support the inclusion of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities in religious settings, such as educational activities, group worship, and special religious events. Participants will receive information regarding how to prepare the child for religious activities, modify activities, create supports, and implement positive behavioral strategies. Participants will be provided with samples of materials.

Audience:
Religious educators (Sunday school teachers, youth ministers, etc.), Congregational leaders, parents, etc.

Objectives:
After this session, participants will understand how to set appropriate goals for successful inclusion in faith-based activities, modify activities to promote inclusion and use visual supports and other strategies to foster success.
