Success in the Inclusive School for Students with Challenging Behaviors

Workshop Description:
This session will open your eyes to the many reasons why students with challenging behaviors are best served as full members of their school communities and regular education classrooms! You will learn about the key factors which increase the likelihood for future success for students, beginning at the earliest ages. You will be introduced to the philosophy and values that guide practice and specific strategies for creating belonging, safety, and an effective learning environment for students with problem behaviors and their classmates. A multi-tiered system of practical, proven supports for preventing, remediating, and proactively addressing very significant problem behaviors will be presented.

Two Workshop Objectives:
1) Identify the major factors that must be present in a school to successfully include students with challenging behaviors
2) Describe a multi-tiered system of supports that can work in a classroom or school to proactively address the needs of students with problem behaviors
