I Didn’t Know That! Tell Me More!

During my 50+ years of advocating and referring families to “treasures” it has always brought me such joy to share little known resources that can monumentally change a family’s life for the better when trying to meet the needs of a child with a disability. This session is a hodgepodge of some of my favorite discoveries that I will joyously share with the families and professionals to hopefully help make life better.

Foster Care Treasures

A sharing and caring session specifically for foster parents/caregivers to learn about the resources and services that can support the needs of the children while they are still in foster care as well as when they age out and supportive “treasures” for the caregivers while the children are in their care.

Heroes? Role Models? Representation?

It is important to see yourself reflected in history and in the world. Children, teens and adults with disabilities have often been neglected when it comes to representation in the media, in history books, in movies and TV. Growing up, how wonderful it would be for parents to be able to share with their child who has a disability, people with their disability who made a positive impact on this world. This session will focus on those heroes and role models so families can then empower their child with a disability by sharing this often neglected part of history and life.
