The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities (Council) is accepting applications for the position of Director. The Director will assume leadership of an organization whose mission is “to help lead change so all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities exercise their right to equal opportunity and freedom”.
The Council is seeking an energetic leader with knowledge and experience in a public policy and a proven track record of collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders related to systems change for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Strong candidates must be well versed on key federal and state legislation affecting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess considerable knowledge and experience of current philosophy and best practices in providing services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Applicants must have extensive knowledge and experience in management, best practices and issues related to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience in psychology, social work, intellectual and developmental disabilities, education or a related field.
