Inclusive Education at the TASH Conference

For decades, TASH has been a leader in promoting inclusive practices in education. The guidance and training TASH offers is firmly grounded in evidence-based practices and research, while also highlighting innovative and promising practices. At this year’s conference, educators, students, and parents will come together to discuss practical models that work in the classroom. Attendees can choose from over 100 sessions on inclusive education.

SWIFT in Oregon
Currently active in Oregon, the Schoolwide Integrated Framework for Transformation (SWIFT) Center partners with whole school systems to implement a framework to improve the academic and behavioral outcomes for ALL students. During the conference, principals from three schools in the Portland Public Schools (PPS) School District will share their professional experiences with SWIFT. This session along with other SWIFT-related sessions will highlight the evidence-based practices implemented in Oregon partner schools in order to promote inclusive educational.

IDEA Principles
In anticipation of the US Congress beginning the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), TASH is preparing to be a leading voice in the process. This session will provide an opportunity for participants to learn the results of these analyses, review draft principles for IDEA reauthorization, and ask questions and comment on this work. TASH IDEA Reauthorization Principles will be finalized and disseminated in Spring 2016. This session presents an opportunity to be part of the development of these Principles.
