She is the eldest sibling of a young man who has a disability, and is co-founder of a Washington, DC-based support group for adults who have siblings with significant disabilities. For the past two years, Raquel has been working towards earning her bachelor’s degree through the City University of New York, majoring in Disability Studies, and anticipates graduating this coming spring. Most recently, Raquel was appointed to serve on the City of Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities.
