Nova Home Support, LLC provides around-the-clock residential care, person-centered support, individualized education, and community-based enrichment opportunities to a sweet, funny teenager with autism, severe mental illness, medical/ADL needs, and behavioral challenges. Support is provided in the community and in a private home designed to meet the client’s unique and evolving needs. The program is grounded in principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and adjustments to the behavior intervention plan (BIP) are made frequently based on data collected by a team of professional staff dedicated to providing the client with the best possible quality of life.
As Executive Director, you will help promote the client’s health and well-being in a variety of ways in close collaboration with the Director of Operations, two program managers, direct-care staff, and the client’s family. The majority of your time will be devoted to managerial and administrative tasks that help the program run smoothly. For example, you will assume primary responsibility for contacting and interviewing candidates for open direct-care positions; onboarding and helping to train new employees; implementing HR policies; and developing team-building activities to keep employee morale high and foster a sense of shared mission. You may also be asked to compile data and draft reports for submission to public and private funding entities, advocate with diverse stakeholders on the client’s behalf, help oversee the timely delivery of food and medicine, and troubleshoot any programmatic or logistical challenges that may arise. Some of this work can be performed remotely or from home, at times of your choosing. In rotation with other members of the managerial team, you will also occasionally be required to provide back-up (last-resort) shift coverage if no regularly scheduled employee, paid on-call employee, or substitute employee is available to cover a given shift
This is an ideal job for those with a background in ABA (or other social service field that serves those with severe mental illness or I/DD) with strong managerial and leadership skills, familiarity with effective HR policies and practices, superb attention to detail and follow-through on administrative and supervisory tasks, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to engage in effective advocacy. The Director must have the flexibility to occasionally perform work on evenings or weekends and must understand that the precise mix of job duties will evolve over time in response to the changing needs of the client and of the program.

Qualifications/Education: A bachelor’s degree and prior management experience in a residential care setting are preferred, but any combination of formal education and experience that equips the candidate well to carry out the required job duties will be considered. Successful applicants also must have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and a willingness to collaborate with direct-care staff when necessary, during the provision of direct care to the client. The position also requires excellent work references, appropriate auto insurance, fingerprint clearance (both DOJ and CACI), and a clear driving record. Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid California driver’s license. If necessary, the agency will provide CPR certification and/or advanced QBS Safety Care training.
