PennTASH to participate in a disability conference honoring the history of people with disabilities

PennTASH will be among scores of disability organizations and individuals represented at a statewide conference at Millersville University on Friday, April 5, to discuss the formation of a coalition to honor the history of people with disabilities in Pennsylvania. Participants will showcase people’s stories and struggles through photos, stories, artifacts, film, documents, genealogy, the arts, and other media, with some dating back to the 19th century. The planning group, composed of the Pennhurst Memorial & Preservation Alliance, Elwyn (a human services organization that was once an institution), Millersville University, Speaking for Ourselves, and the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, will host the presentations along with panel discussions and a town‐hall session in the afternoon to consider the merits of a statewide coalition.
