Self-advocates in the Faith Community

Description:
As a result of this session, participants will learn more about why and how to encourage and support self-advocates in communities of faith. Self-advocates will tell their stories and explain the process they have gone through in finding and building community in their churches.

Audience:
Church members and people in positions of leadership in their faith communities will benefit from attending this session as they hear more about identifying and encouraging ALL people to use their gifts and abilities in order to bring glory to God and wholeness within the Body of Christ.

Objectives:
Participants will be able to list Scripture that supports inclusion of all people in the Body of Christ and the importance of moving from a person who is served to being a person who is serving using their God given gifts and abilities. At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to summarize a variety of ways to find and build community within their church.
