The Institute on Communication and Inclusion at Syracuse University will hold its 2011 Summer Institute Wednesday, July 20 to Friday, July 22, at the MIT Media Lab on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.
The 2011 Summer Institute theme is “Finding a Voice, Finding a Place, Finding a Purpose.” The event will focus on research, practice and advocacy for individuals who type to communicate and feature keynotes and presentations from individuals who type to communicate and leaders in the field of communication and inclusion from the U.S. and around the world.
Core topics during the event will focus on:
Developing greater independence in communication
School and community inclusion
Finding a voice
Navigating higher education
Sustaining support for communication
The role of art and music in the conceptualization of voice
