Led by national youth facilitators from the I am Norm campaign (www.iamnorm.org) and local youth leaders from the Atlanta region, this event will focus on getting EXCITED about diverse ideas, perspectives and abilities. Come prepared to meet new friends and think … are you “normal” or just you?

Who: Youth and young adults with or without a disability
Where: Hilton Atlanta, 255 Courtland Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30303
When: December 3, 2011 – 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Registration: Free with TASH Conference registration or $10 if only attending the Youth Summit.

IEP Training for Parents, Advocates and Parents’ Attorneys

Facilitated by Barbara Ransom, an attorney at Disability Rights California, this training will provide parents with a toolbox of strategies to ensure that students labeled as having disabilities receive the full benefits promised under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Parents and others will also learn about:
– Developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to prevent Interim Alternative Placements
– Preparing for a Manifestation Determination
– Discussing the School-to-Prison Pipeline
