TASH Board President Appointed to President’s Committee

TASH Board of Directors President, Carol Quirk, has been appointed to President Obama’s Committee for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. The appointment came this May and was announced along with 14 other new members of the committee. Carol was selected for her contributions to the field of intellectual disability. The committee advises the Present and the secretary of Health and Human Services on quality of life issues for people with intellectual disabilities and ways to promote the full participation of people with disabilities in their communities.

In a release from the White House, President Obama said, “These fine public servants bring both a depth of experience and tremendous dedication to their new roles. Our nation will be well-served by these men and women, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.”

Furthermore, long-time TASH member Liz Weintraub has also been appointed to the committee. Congratulations to Carol and Liz.
