Message from the Executive Director
As this Summer comes to an end (yes, it sure flew by!) we look forward to some key events in September and October. TASH will host its annual Outstanding Leadership in Disability Law Symposium and Award Celebration on September 11. This year, we will honor Steven Schwartz, the founder of and current Special Counsel for the Center for Public Representation, for his lifetime of work to advance disability rights. We’re also pleased that Sam Bagenstos, the Chief Counsel at HHS, will join us as keynote speaker during the evening Award Celebration.
We hope you can join us for the afternoon Symposium (in-person and virtual option) which features three panels of expert speakers on timely topics, and/or the evening Award Celebration (in person only) on September 11 at the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. You can learn more about and register for the event by visiting tash.org/2024OLDL.
The U.S. International Council on Disabilities (USICD), which TASH is a member of, will host its tenth annual Awards Gala on October 21, 2024, 6-7:30 PM ET, in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). At its virtual gala, USICD will honor leaders of the disability rights movement whose work has benefited people with disabilities worldwide. This year, former Congressman Tony Coelho will be honored with the Dole-Harkin Award and Ambassador Luis Gallegos of Ecuador will receive the International Advocate Award. To learn more, please visit usicd.org and to purchase tickets click here.
Best wishes to all for a happy Labor Day weekend.
With appreciation,
Michael Brogioli
