TASH’s Annual Chapter Leadership & Board Retreat

Every summer, TASH hosts it annual in-person Board of Directors Retreat. This year we held our second annual Chapter Leadership Retreat and first annual Self-Advocacy Committee Meeting in conjunction with the Board Retreat. It was an action-packed three days, to say the least!

Capitol Hill Visit_Group ShotWe kicked off the retreat with a presentation by Allan Bergman, chair of TASH’s Public Policy Committee. Allan provided an in-depth training on current policy issues. Afterward, everyone made their way to Capitol Hill. TASH members met with staffers from the offices of Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). Stories were shared, questions were asked, and connections were made.

Meeting with Senator staffersThe following morning, chapter discussed their Capitol Hill visits, accomplishments, and revised work plans for the coming year. Meanwhile, the Self-Advocacy Committee met to create its mission statement. The committee also developed a set of goals to carry them through the next year.

As the Chapter Leadership Retreat and Self-Advocacy Committee Meeting came to an end, board members switched gears. They hit the ground running with their second board meeting of the year. They shared updates, discussions, and a conference look-ahead.

On the third and final day of the retreat, TASH board members and staff participated in a strategic planning discussion facilitated by Aaron Bishop. The discussion was enlightening and reinvigorating. With everyone on the same page, the road ahead is looking bright!

TASH would like to extend a huge thank you to members of our Board of Directors, our Chapter Leaders, and our Self-Advocacy Committee members for traveling near and far to join us. We’re looking forward to a productive year ahead.
