Job Description:
The College of Saint Rose invites applications and nominations for a Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Thelma P. Lally School of Education, Department of Literacy and Special Education. This is a one-year appointment, beginning in August 2018 and continuing through May 2019.
Responsibilities include undergraduate/graduate teaching, academic advisement, and service to the program and department.
As a member of the Saint Rose faculty, the applicant is expected to teach assigned courses in accordance with relevant academic policies. The applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education.
Requirements:
Master’s, Ph. D. or Ed. D degree in special education or related field is required. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: assessment, curriculum and instruction for students with significant or intellectual disabilities, inclusive practices to support all learners, or early childhood education.
The candidate’s specific content expertise should include one or more of the following:
(a) knowledge of assessment and intervention in special education for students with significant and intellectual disabilities,
(b) inclusive practices to support all learners in general education settings,
(c) expertise in Response to Intervention and Positive Behavior Supports,
(d) knowledge of literacy elements for PreK-6 grade levels including students with significant disabilities,
(e) knowledge and experience in language development and assistive and augmentative communication,
(f) experience in monitoring the progress of diverse learners, including English as a new language, and
(g) experience in teaching special education at the early childhood and/or childhood level.
Minimum three years of full-time experience teaching students in Pre-K through grade 6 special education or inclusive settings is also required.

Visiting Instructor title applies when the selected applicant holds a Masters degree.
Visiting Assistant Professor title applies when the selected applicant holds a terminal degree.
