The Education Department at Augsburg College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in special education, to begin August 15, 2016. Program faculty teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in special education mainly using adult learning formats. Other responsibilities include advising students, supervising student teachers, serving on department and college committees, conducting active scholarly engagement, and serving the professional/K-12 community.

For this position, a doctorate in special education or related field is required; ABD applicants will be considered. Also desired is some combination of the following: background or experience in disability studies; license in Special Education (EBD, ASD or DCD preferred); three or more years of experience teaching in a special education K-12 school setting; experience in special education (in areas of curriculum and instructional strategies and a strong background in inclusion and community engagement; experience working with diverse populations and experience teaching in higher education). The candidate should be current in on-line and hybrid instruction; instructional technologies and other recent changes in K-12 education.

We seek a colleague to work with us on a variety of contemporary issues in education, including understanding and challenging the ways in which systems of privilege and oppression operate in the field of education and teacher education. We are especially interested in candidates who explicitly take a critical and responsive stance toward improving the schooling experiences and life outcomes of traditionally underserved and marginalized youth.
