Contact Ruth Ryder at the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) and help protect the rights of students with disabilities!

On February 16, TASH, on behalf of its members, sent Ruth Ryder, Acting Director of OSERS, a letter expressing concern with the announcement from the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in the January 3, 2017 Federal Register regarding personnel preparation grants.

OSEP’s recent call for proposals for personnel preparation funds under CDFA 85.325K has re-defined students “with the most intensive needs” to include a very broad range of individuals (including children/youth with dyslexia, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, etc.). This will seriously limit teacher training scholarships for educators who want to work with the children and youth that TASH supports. In addition, the Request for Proposal suggests that there are children who cannot be included.
