Jenny Stonemeier has joined TASH as the Education Policy Director, a position created as part of TASH’s involvement in a national grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. The grant is funding The SWIFT Center, which stands for School-wide Integrated Framework for Transformation. The SWIFT Center will assist schools across the country in implementing school wide inclusive practices that will improve academic and behavioral achievement for ALL students.
Jenny brings more than 15 years experience in the disabilities field. While living in Wisconsin she was deeply involved in efforts to promote state legislation for the use of seclusion and restraints in public settings and she has also worked to defeat legislation that would have supported school segregation of children with disabilities. For nearly 5 years, Jenny worked with the Wisconsin Parent Training and Information Center where she lead statewide projects to improve family engagement and parent leadership development.
Jenny is the parent of two school aged children, one of whom has a disability, and the spouse of a public school educator.
Welcome aboard, Jenny.
